With an alias like Motor City Drum Ensemble it's fair to assume that Stuttgart-based Danilo Plessow is more than a tad influenced by the the electronic music Mecca that is Detroit. In fact even after a quick listen to his back catalogue and mixes its obvious that several other Great US city's have shaped his musical approach. His sound owes as much to the raw jackin' proto-house of Chicago as the soulful, slinky disco of New York and his arrangement and nimble sampling skills hint at a youth spent listening to J Dilla et al.
His Raw Cuts series has deservedly drawn widespread acclaim and adulation and has engineered a startlingly rapid rise to prominence for this young producer and ensconced himself firmly at the forefront of a House music scene that seems focused on the future but with more than a healthy dose of reverence for the past masters.
MCDE was set to play at Wigflex in November but due to illness never even made it on to the plane. This show falls in the run up to the launch of Danilo's addition to the legendary DJ Kicks series which all sets up this appearance with even greater anticipation, and makes it a no-brainer for anyone with even slight curiosity, oh and did I mention that Hessle Audio co-founder and 'DJ's DJ' Ben UFO is also playing??
