COSMIN TRG (Hessle Audio/Tempa/Hotflush) at Stealth (18/03/11)

Cosmin TRG (Hessle Audio/Tempa/Hotflush/Hemlock/50 Weapons)
Cosmin TRG (formerly just TRG) is one of those producers who never seemed to have any one particular home base or community. Perhaps it’s being from Romania, or maybe it’s just the fact that his sound is as unpredictable as the labels he’s released on.

His first 12” was the debut release on Ramadanman/Ben UFO/Pangea's Hessle Audio label, garnering praise from BBC Radio 1’s Mary Anne Hobbs among others.

Cosmin TRG re-invents his music constantly, and currently champions modern electronics supported by the likes of Apparat, Benji B, Gilles Peterson, Martyn, Ben Sims, Marcel Dettmann, Untold, A Made Up Sound, the Arpiar collective, Shed, Roska, Deetron, Rob Da Bank, Laurent Garnier or Modeselektor among others. An alumni of the illustrious Red Bull Music Academy and a regular in music magazines such as Mixmag, DJ Mag, iDJ, Groove, Fact Magazine, Resident Advisor or Pitchfork Media, Cosmin TRG has presented his unique take on interesting dancefloor music to clubs and festivals including Sonar, The End, Fabric and the notorious Paris Techno Parade.

FLOATING POINTS (Planet Mu/Eglo) at Stealth (18/03/11)

WIGFLEX present...

Floating Points (Planet Mu/Eglo Records)

Producer/DJ/Musician Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points has been on the scene since his debut release in February 2009. Sam has been a firm fixture of radio show playlists worldwide and has steadily built a back catalogue of music that can be heard gracing the soundsystems of the globe's more respectable nightclubs and wearhouses.

Floating Points - Vacuum EP by floatingpoints

Theo Parrish recently ended his infamous monthly East London session with a freshly pressed piece of Mr Points black plastic. He’s already provided guest mixes for Mary Anne Hobbs, Benji B and Gilles Peterson, and recently recorded his fourteen member strong ‘Floating Points Ensemble’ for a BBC Maida Vale session, resulting in him winning best ‘Maida Vale Session’ at Gilles Petersons Prestigious World Wide Awards.

Not bad for a young man who spends the majority of his time in a laboratory researching Neuroscience. Classically trained in music, Mr Shepherd applies his academic knowledge with modern styles, emersing himself in the cultures of dance music, with a vinyl habit that has taken him to Chicago and Detroit, simply to buy records. As well as his impressive production style, writing and arrangement skills, Floating Points is also building a reputation as one of the world's most exciting Dj talents, travelling the globe with his handmade E&S rotarary mixer.

Be it in house, hip hop, dubstep, techno, jazz or classical, the Floating Points sound manifests itself in many forms, always deep and soulful, but with reputable bounce and heavy bass, fans include Harmonic 313, Kode 9, Ramadanman, Geeneus, Four Tet and Radiohead! Floating Points hails from the talented fam of CDR Sessions in London, he is one of the most promising producers to be watched out for this year.

This week Floating Points got bloggers hyped the world over when he dropped the new Tom Yorke/Burial/Four Tet track 'Ego' on his Rinse FM show:

KODE 9 (Hyperdub) at Stealth (18/03/11)

Friday 18th March, 2011

WIGFLEX present...

Kode 9
Based in South London, Kode9s hyperdub sound is difficult to define, sometimes with beats, sometimes without, sometimes with a vocalist, sometimes without, the only continuity is the heavy sub bass. Currently, Kode9's DJ sets travel through a selection of dancehall influenced bass heavy skank, currently referred to as grime and dubstep. In 2006 he mixed the Dubstep Allstars Vol.3 CD compilation on Tempa records with vocalist Spaceape and released their debut album, 'Memories of the Future'.

Kode9 runs the record label Hyperdub (releasing artists such as the Burial, Joker, Zomby, Cooly G, Darkstar, The Bug, Warrior Queen and Ikonika).

For 4 years, Kode9 hosted the weekly Fwd>> show on Rinse FM, London's grime and dubstep pirate radio station, and is one of the rotating DJs at DMZ, the seminal dubstep night in London.

He has released tracks on Aphex Twin's Rephlex label, pioneering dubstep labels Tempa, Domino and his own Hyperdub imprint and has recently remixed artists such as Burial, Junior Boys, The Bug and local talent Geiom.

His DJ sets have helped spread the South London sound internationally, to East Asia, Europe, South America, North America and Australia, including headline shows at some of the world's top festivals including Sonar, Glastonbury, Outlook & Coachella.

His bass-heavy Essential Mix for Radio 1 dropped last week and is streamable via the BBC iPlayer until Saturday.

"For the fifth annual Wigflexmas, we welcome one of the best Dj's around at the minute, Braiden."

Braiden (Rinse FM/Doldrums)

Listen to Braiden throw down a three-deck mix on leading London pirate Rinse FM, or play alongside the great & the good of dubstep at clubs like Plastic People, Scala, The End and The Egg, and it’s clear that he sees music through his own unique lens. An exhibitionist described by FACT Magazine as “absurdly talented”, Braiden lives up to the hype with a mixing style that thrives on the element of surprise – he has been known to crawl Berlin’s clubs in search of undiscovered glitch- or disco-infused music from alternate universes. An avid photographer who has recently shot artist portraits for the Ministry of Sound, look to Braiden for a technicolour vision of the future of London music.
- Red Bull Music Academy 2010

Braiden, repping RinseFM, is celebrated for blowing up dubstep's limitations with his inventive selection and super-tight, technical mixing. Spearheading the current wave of London's what-do-you-call-it experimentation, his sets comfortably splice house, techno, garage and dubstep.
- Night Slugs 2010

Check out his recent release on Joy Orbison's Doldrum's imprint for a taste of what's in store:

Also check out his exclusive mix for Sónar (including tracks by Claude VonStroke, Girl Unit, Lil Silva, Jam City, Justin Martin, Melé & Geeneus):

JOY ORBISON
“Cool” uncles have always gotten kids into all kinds of wonderful mischief, but 22-year-old Peter O’Grady from London , better known as Joy Orbison, was especially blessed—he credits uncle Ray Keith with introducing him to jungle and U.K. garage long before he could ever hit the clubs. At the age of 13 he took up DJing and eventually moved into production, beginning with Fruity Loops-crafted 8-bar grime loops before shifting into headier territory that combined his love of house, disco, and dubstep with the atmospheric fuzz of bands like My Bloody Valentine, Josef K, and The Beach Boys. His debut single “Hyph Mngo” has become the forward-thinking dubstep/2-step tune of 2009, and was followed by “BRKL CLLN” on O’Grady’s own Doldrums label, which he runs in tandem with partner Impey.

JOY ORBISON back at Stealth !!

After making his Nottingham debut at Stealth Vs Rescued last year, we are thrilled to welcome back JOY ORBISON to play at WIGFLEX on Friday June 4th.

Twenty-two-year-old Pete O'Grady from Croydon, who goes by the name Joy Orbison, is one of the hottest dance producers around, recently being named in the BBC's "Sound of 2010".

Despite all of this attention he still works as a "dogsbody" in a mail room, saying he prefers music to be a relief from work, rather than work itself.

O'Grady has been DJing since the age of 12 and his sound is a lovingly-crafted late-night evolution of house and UK garage, with soft bass, hypnotic home-made percussion and distant chopped-up vocals. His debut single, "Hyph Mngo/Wet Look" was released on Hotflush Recordings in October 2009, and has been followed by "J.Doe/BRKLN CLLN", "The Shrew Would Have Cushioned The Blow" and remixes for Four Tet & Jose James.

Tickets are already flying out : Buy the last of the £8 earlybird tickets here.

Here is a video of Joy Orbison at Stealth Vs Rescued last year:
