CLAUDE VONSTROKE exclusive interview for dollop

In advance of tonight's show at Stealth the guys over at dollop managed to catch a few minutes with the one and only CLAUDE VONSTROKE!

dollop: What do you think of the new hybrid of House, Dubstep and Techno that is coming out of the UK at the moment (eg. Julio Bashmore)?

CVS: Awesome. I love it. Finally something fresh to listen to.

dollop: And how is this hybrid of sounds received in the States?
CVS: We usually hear it for the first time just about the same time the trend dies in the UK. At the same time, we have our own trends. Maybe no one follows them like they do in London and Berlin but that's what makes us special, isn't it.

dollop: How is the dirtybird sound developing and what involvement do you have with that?

CVS: I am the A&R and owner of dirtybird so i guess i am responsible for the sound. The development is based entirely on the music that i like. Basically more grease and grit please. Don't be so obvious unless you are a genius and then you are allowed to make very simple tracks that kill because you know what you are doing

dollop: Which of your productions are you most proud of?
CVS: DB005 was the best 2 tracker combo I've done. All the way from goofy to emotional in one EP.

dollop: When did you start djing?
CVS: I had a radio show in High School which feels like about 100 years ago. There was no mixing involved with that. I would play a record then talk, then play another record. My show was called the Power Move and it was all hip-hop. I would give away a free pizza every show to get people to listen. It's not so common to have a radio station in a high school so i guess that was quite lucky.

dollop: Who is your role model?

dollop: What are you most afraid of in Detroit?

CVS: I'm not (which is the point of the track to begin with).

dollop: Have you revisited Detroit recently? How does it's current party scene compare to the past?
CVS: I don't feel comfortable being an "official" reporter on the Detroit scene because i moved away a while ago to San Francisco, but as far as I can tell it's been picking up again. Last time i went there i played for 2000 people which was quite a big jump from the time before for about 350 only a year ago. I may have to qualify that by telling you that "Mini-Me" was the 'MC' of that larger event which could have accounted for at least 30 extra people.
Claude VonStroke plays at dollop tonight at Stealth alongside Jamie Woon (live), Benji B (Radio 1) and lots more.

DJ MEHDI (Ed Banger) Interview

In advance of tonight's show at dollop we have managed to grab a few words with Parisian DJ superstar - DJ MEHDI.

After working as a hip-hop producer with the likes of MC Solaar, Asian Dub Foundation and Futura 3000, DJ Mehdi joined forces with Pedro 'Busy P' Winter in 1997, hosting a very successful monthly hip-hop / electro club night at former Paris nightspot Pulp.

This friendship resulted in Busy P signing Mehdi up to his Ed Banger label, culmating in the release of the 'Lucky Boy' LP in 2006. The album featured the classic tracks 'Signatune' (which was re-edited by Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter) and 'I Am Somebody' (featuring Chromeo).

Squatters (San City High) Interview

Kissy Sell Out's San City High Tour rolls into town tonight at Stealth, and we managed to grab a quick chat with some of the acts in advance of the show. First up - The Squatters!

THE SQUATTERS
(aka Oliver Portamento & Alex Powell) have been working together for many years not just as DJs but also as successful promoters, event organisers & producers. Taking influences from Oldskool Hip Hop & Rave then fusing it with today’s modern House, Electro & more experimental genres such as Dub Step, Drum n’ Bass & even Trance. By cut n’ pasting these together, adding chopped vocals & colossal breakdowns they have created a unique big room sound that has closed the ranks between the styles which makes a heavyweight impact on the dance floor.

There productions & remixes have received consistent airing by BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM, as well as support from a countless list of elite radio & club DJs (see the feedback above from DJ Zinc, Doorly, AC Slater & Villa).

The Squatters are working hard on new productions & remixes, but we managed to grab a quick word with Oli from the duo:

Where are you now?

Waiting for a bus in Scarborough (were youngest in the line)

What is your favourite city?

Leeds

What was the first record you bought?

The Heartists - Belo Horizonte

When/ where/ how did you start dj’ing & producing?

Watched some early french house live event videos in 97 and then went to Ibiza at the age of 16 in 1998. Then after many years of djing, production was the way forward and also making tracks we needed for the floors.

How many records are in your collection?

Over 10,000 - but they are more of a feature in our studio now, as sadly we don't use records anymore :( It's all digital world now..

What is your favourite album ever?

Hard question... Obviously different moods different music.. Chicanes greatest hits is up there.

Who is your role model?

The Chuckle Brothers! As they live life have a laugh and entertain people. But obviously we entertain over 18s

What is your preferred production and dj set up?

Mac (no debate), CDJ2000s have raised the bar, and logic with plenty of hardware!

What do you never leave the house without?

The front door key

What do you get up to when you are not busy with music?

Eating various foods at random unsociable times, and hanging with mates! This is important to us as friends have been there from the beginning.

What tracks are you currently working on?

We have a track which is currently unnamed as that's the hardest part of creating a track, also working on a remix for Champion Records called 'Whistle - Just Buggin'.

What are your top 5 records at the moment?

Crookers - Arena (Will Bailey Remix)
The Squatters (feat Dutch courage) - Superfly
Neon Stereo - I See U Baby
The Squatters - Up To No Good
Nom De Strip - Skewee

What has been your personal musical highlight of 2010 so far?

The San City High Tour with Kissy Sell Out - didn't feel like work at any time it was professional partying. 14 dates with some of the best UK cities, venues and crowds.

What acts do you think could breakthrough in 2011?

There are so many to name but we really support Nom De Strip's productions at the mo so prob him - (Chris Elliott) ex-Stupid Fresh.

MATT TOLFREY (LEFTROOM/COCOON) INTERVIEW

After three massive nights (with Andrew Weatherall, Hector, Ivan Smagghe, Tim Green & Jamie Jones), this Friday sees the fourth installment of Zleep - where MATT TOLFREY will be playing alongside SIMON BAKER at ZLEEP 004.

As a self-proclaimed workaholic, Matt Tolfrey has spent the last few years forging a unique sound through his DJ sets and production and has somehow still found time to create and nurture one of the UK’s most respected, not to mention cutting edge house/techno labels in Leftroom. Matt has been ever present at Stealth since its inception several years ago. We put some questions to him.

What have you been working on recently Matt?
Recently it has been my tan and getting fat in USA. Music wise there is tons on, and never enough time to do it…

I just finished a new remix solo for a new British label called Kaluki from Manchester by a guy called Joseph Kindred. Really happy with it, and seeing as it is only the second remix I have ever done on my own it has inspired me to produce more again.

Chris and I have remixes pending on Rekids of James Teej and Cityfox of Lee Curtiss. We’re also working really hard on our debut album, which we’re hoping to have finished by the end of the year.

Can you tell us what we can look forward to from your Leftroom label in the coming months?
We are promoing Left019 at the moment, which is by Eric Johnston a newish comer from Detroit. It comes with a remix from Ryan Elliot also. After that we have a big 20th release with tracks coming from all the Leftroom crew. 6Six tracks in total, four on vinyl and two digital exclusives. Then on Leftroom Limited we have an ep by iO and Westboy called With Love from Ukraine, then next up after that is an ep by London’s Jozif. Then the Left’d002 (Leftroom’s new digital label) is about to drop and we have various artist ep’s from then on every 4-6 weeks. We’re really busy with the label at the moment, we just changed distributors and took on Leon Oakey as our new label manager. After such a long time not putting out many releases, we have got everything in line again and are ready to take over!!!

Technology has always played a key role in the evolution of house and techno. Do you think that this influence has become less important in recent years as producers have tended to look back for inspiration?
The idea of only playing promo’s is totally gone now. I play as much old music as new, so this has definitely changed. Technology wise it’s only human to always evolve and get better, faster, more efficient, etc… Producers have always looked to the past for inspiration, it’s all based on disco in the end isn’t it…

Who would be your singularly most important influence on your production work?
To be honest we try and not be influenced too much when it comes to production as we’re trying so hard to forge our own sound. But a producer I have a lot of respect for and who is getting insanely good at the moment is Lee Curtiss. He just finished a track that got signed to Culprit in LA that has me doing vocals on it, and if he can make me sound like I can actually sing, he can do anything…

You’ve played all over the world, where do the clubbers most connect with what you are trying to communicate in your DJ sets? Why do you think that is?
I am lucky as I feel I make a connection with all the people I play for. It is in my personality anyway, I get on with most people if not all, so I think comes through in my dj style. I’m not one of these dj’s that thinks I am educating people or anything like that. I just play what I would want to hear if I was on the dancefloor myself, which I still do a lot as well, everyone loves a good party and supporting people!
Your role model?
Mum. She is the toughest cookie on the planet and inspires me a lot. She has just beaten cancer and my world revolves around her. I’m a big mummies boy at heart.

Your top 5 records of the moment?

This is always hard to do as there is a lot more than 5 records that I am buzzing off at the moment, but here we go, in no particular order…

1. Robin Ordell – The Show – Leftroom Limited
2. Lee Curtiss ft Matt Tolfrey – Candy – Culprit
3. Pezzner – Balboa Park – Freerange
4. Adonis – We’re Rocking Down The House (Basement Jaxx Remix)
5. Losoul ft Malte – Lies – Playhouse

In advance of his show at Girls Go Free we grabbed a couple of quick questions with the mysterious man:

What have you been up to since your last show at Stealth ?
Trying my hand at knitting, and placed 3rd in the UK national lawn bowling championships for my local team. I have also been doing some volunteer work down at my local parish of a Sunday.
This Friday you play at ‘Girls Go Free’ - what is the best thing you have ever got free?
Well i just managed to free a small gnome from my rectum which was quite a relief, so I'd have to say that.
If you were on a desert island and you can only take 3 items what would you take and why?
A helicopter so i could get off it when i wanted,
Plenty of 'supplies' and
The entire discography of Seal
If you weren’t a producer/dj what would you do with your life?
Probably amount to nothing just like my teachers told me. Oh how I'd love to see them now and gloat that i earn more than them.
What is your favourite flavour of crisps?
Caramelised turnip and shoelace
If you could have any super-power what would you have?
Invisible flying powers. So i could rape seagulls in mid air.
If you were on Mastermind what would be your specialist subject?
The mating habits of fat bitches.
What did you want to be when you were 12 years old?
Either a dj or a food / video game tester. Glad i stuck with the former.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?
Megan Fox - because i spend most of my time naked playing with myself.
'Girls Go Free' kicks off this Friday at 10pm. GIRLS - write your names on the Facebook Event Wall for free entry (before Midnight) & GUYS - write your names on the Facebook Event Wall for £3 entry (before Midnight)!!!

IVAN SMAGGHE Interview - Stealth 6th Brithday

To headline the >ZLEEP< room at the Stealth 6th Birthday this Friday, we are looking forward to welcoming back a man who stands at the crossroads between glamorous Parisian hype and musical integrity, Stealth favourite IVAN SMAGGHE.

Ivan's 'Test' radio show and compilations imposed a new vision of leftfield electronica on Radio Nova and his programming for the two past years has been a faultless example of quality eclecticness. Though Smagghe hails from the early days of the Parisian underground - both through his connection with the defunct Rough Trade record shop and remixing contributions on various formats - he came back to music production in 2001 by launching his own Set imprint.

How long ago did you start djing & producing?
First paid set in 1992. Production came later, ‘96 probably.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Soft Cell's ‘Tainted Love’ was the first I bought with my own money.
And what was the last record (or track) you bought?
An EP by Dionigi called 'They Have Black Eyes’ on Quantity Division: Italian. Amongst others.
Who were your main inspirations that got you into djing & production?
My dad and his love for Tangerine Dream. Throbbing Gristle, Severed Heads, and Soft Cell probably. Belgian new beat. I'm coming from a 'rock' background, so Weatherall has to be the man responsible for getting me properly into dance music. Dimitri from Amsterdam was a DJ I loved and loads of others. Harvey counted a lot at some point. Many others over the years really.
How many records are in your collection?
I stopped counting and collecting when I lost 20,000 records in a fire back in 1998.

What are your 3 most played tracks at the moment?
Some unreleased tracks by French hopes DARABI (check Get The Curse for more info), 'Broken Clock' by CHALLENGE on Marketing, and an EDDIE C remix of SEAN BROSNAN on Needwant.
What do you do when you are not djing / producing?
Read. Watch movies. Not TV, movies. Being angered by too many believing in the final victory of capitalism.
What is your biggest fear?
Loss of a loved one. Including my cat.
Stealth is 6 years old this Friday. What did you do on your 6th
birthday?

Too far away to remember I’m afraid. But I asked my mum for my first record in 1977. 'Manureva' by Alain Chamfort, a French pop track of which I’ve always wanted to sample first four bars.
If you could pick 3 Dj's (past or present) to play at your party
who would you pick?

Dimitri from Amsterdam circa 1992, Poltergeist, an early Belgian legend whom I was never able to hear, and Nathan Wilkins really playing what he wants. They’re 3 amongst many though.
What is your favourite memory of Stealth?
The quality of it's residents, Matt Tolfrey and Dave Congreve. And it was always a pleasure to see James Bailie.

Ivan will be playing alongside Tim Green, Dave Congreve & Zleep DJs at the Stealth 6th Birthday event this Friday.

Tickets are available from Alt-Tickets, Stealth Online or in person from Rock City Box Office.

TRANSIT MAFIA Interview - Stealth 6th Brithday

Transit Mafia is the promoter and resident DJ of Stealth's longest running night - Detonate. The night, which focuses on Drum & Bass, Dubstep & Hip-Hop, has been running on a monthly basis since 2004, and as a DJ he has probably played at Stealth more times than any other. He is playing at the Stealth 6th Birthday event this Friday alongside one of the hottest DJ duos in Dubstep & Drum & Bass - NERO.

How long ago did you start djing?
I started DJing about 13 years ago.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Musical Youth - Youth of Today LP.
And what was the last record (or track) you bought?
Scuba - Triangulation
Who were your main inspirations that got you into djing & production?
I first got into listening to techno DJ's like Dave Angel, Luke Slater, Dave Clarke and people like that. Drum & Bass wise Randall, Doc Scott and some of the Bristol lot were what got me into it.
How many records are in your collection?
A large room full. I try to get rid of some occasionally but end of not being able to part with them.
What are your 3 most played tracks at the moment?
Xenomorph - S.P.Y
Fade Away - Lenzman
Red Lines - Total Science
What do you do when you are not djing / producing?
Promote Detonate, help run our pub - The Golden Fleece, get beaten at squash, watch Nottingham Forest.
What is your biggest fear?
My serato breaking down. I've not been using it long and still have that moment every gig when i don't think it's going to work.
Stealth is 6 years old this Friday. What did you do on your 6th birthday?
I think I had a party which involved musical chairs with my dad playing the piano instead of stopping and starting a record.
If you could pick 3 Dj's (past or present) to play at your party who would you pick?
This is kind of what I do every week with Detonate, but I guess Marky, Calibre, and David Rodigan probably. Doc Scott in 1995 as well. Zinc in 2000, Ed Rush in '98.
What is your favourite memory of Stealth?
On our 10th Birthday Detonate did a Sunday night with Marky, Benga and Breakage. It was one of those nights which just went off. Marky played for around 4hrs dropping Michael Jackson, Nirvana and loads of random stuff, and Rich Detonate and MC Lowqui stage dived out of the upstairs booth.

What 5 tracks stand out as your favorites from your sets at Stealth?

Big tunes of the last 6 years at Detonate include:

Back to your Roots - Friction & K-Tee remix
Number One - Die & Clipz
Together VIP - Logistics
In Love - Jenna G
If We Ever - High Contrast
What has been your favourite night at Stealth?
Probably the 10th Birthday with Marky, Benga and Breakage.
What has been your funniest moment in Stealth?
Kath Detonate having a some sort of karate fight with Andy C's driver and kicking the amps off during his set. Wasn't that funny at the time though.

Tickets for this Friday's Stealth's 6th Birthday event (with Transit Mafia, Nero, Fake Blood, Tim Green & loads more) are available online from Alt-Tickets & Stealth online or in person from Rock City box office.

More information is available on the Facebook Event.

BOWSKI Interview - Stealth 6th Birthday

This Friday we welcome Bristol-based producer/DJ Bowski to Stealth for his debut Nottingham show. In advance of his set alongside Fake Blood at the Stealth 6th Birthday, we quizzed the 'playful techno' producer...

How long ago did you start djing & producing?
I've been DJing for about three years. I decided to learn on my gap year and got really into it. When I moved to Bristol I wanted to DJ outside of my bedroom, but after a year of very little gigs I thought the only way I could play out would be if I produced. I do music technology at uni and I had done a bit at college, but I never made any tracks for a club. I just messed about with software. I made my first proper tune about this time last year and that was 'Hooves'.
What was the first record you ever bought?
The first record I ever bought with my own money was 'Fresh Hits 98'. It's basically a crap pop compilation. I learnt my lesson after that. I remember getting 'Surrender' by The Chemical Brothers for my birthday from my sister. That's probably my favourite album of all time.
And what was the last record (or track) you bought (ie. paid money for)?
It was 'Symphonia' by James Braun. I've wanted it for ages.
Who were your main inspirations that got you into djing & production?
It was people like The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy that first got me into dance music. When I got my decks I realised I had a limited selection of club tunes, so I started to delve more into that side of things and got into Justice and Soulwax. In terms of production I would have to say Fake Blood and Boy 8 Bit. I've always loved the fact that their tracks have great melodies. They don't just churn out bass ridden tracks. Claude VonStroke is a big inspiration too.

How many records are in your collection?

I have about 80 tracks on me when I DJ, but I’ve got hundreds of albums at home and thousands of tracks on my iTunes.
What are your 3 most played tracks at the moment?
I love playing the Zombie Disco Squad remix of Black Box 'Ride On Time'. It always gets a good reaction. 'Dism' by Tony Senghore is another great track I love mixing. Probably my favourite track to play out at the moment is 'Hickup Theme' by Hickup. The rolling bassline is awesome and it always goes off when I play it.
What do you do when you are not djing / producing?
I'm taking a year out of Uni doing an internship at the moment. I go back there in September, but hopefully I’ll still get to do all the Bowski stuff I love doing.
What is your biggest fear?
Wasps. I managed to sit on a wasps nest when I was a little boy, so now the fuckers scare the shit out of me.
Stealth is 6 years old this Friday. What did you do on your 6th birthday?
To be honest I can't remember, but I expect it involved a bouncy castle. I couldn't get enough of them at the time.
If you could pick 3 Dj's (past or present) to play at your party who would you pick?
John Peel because he always played the most forward thinking music, The Chemical Brothers because they're heroes of mine and Format B because the last time I saw them they played one of the best sets i've ever seen.

Listen to Bowski's latest mix (or download by clicking here):

RIOTOUS ROCKERS Interview - Stealth 6th Birthday

Riotous Rockers formed after a chance meeting on the dance floor of Fabric Room One in the summer of 2003. Unbeknown to Pete and Boggy they would both meet again in their home town of Nottingham a few months later to discover they shared a mutual love of all things Electro, Pop, Disco, and Rave.

The DJ partnership was truly formed when they were given the chance to play at Nottingham's most hedonistic night, Liars Club. Mixing up as many styles as they could lay their hands on, they complimented promoter Ricky Haley's inspired bookings (which over the years has seen the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Scissors Sisters, Bloc Party and The Klaxons play long before they became household names). Riotous Rockers soon became a regular fixture at the clubnight.

Word of these explosive DJ sets travelled fast, and the Rockers found regular guest slots at the cream of UK of club land further a field, including gigs in Ibiza, Barcelona, New York, Paris and Amsterdam.

They've been djing regularly at Stealth over the past 6 years, so we thought we'd have a bit of a reminisce...

How long ago did you start djing?
Boggy (right): I've been Djing for the last 15 years.
Pete (left): About 7 years ago.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Boggy: Arthurs Theme (Caught between the moon and New York city) - Christopher Cross
Pete: A-ha – The Sun Always Shines On TV (still massive!)
And what was the last record (or track) you bought?
Boggy: Pete Herbert & Dicky Trisco - Visual (Autodiscotque)
Pete: Marcos Cabral & Shux – Lifetime Groove (OTP Party Breaks)
Who were your main inspirations that got you into djing & production?
Boggy: Erol Alkan, Mickey Finn, Andy Weatherall, The Chemical Brothers, Stuart Price, Harvey, Soulwax.
Pete: Going to Clubs like 21st Century Body Rockers, Return to New York and Trash. Seeing Erol, 2many DJs, Mark Moore, Lazarus, etc. playing the most exciting music I’d ever heard.
How many records are in your collection?
Boggy: Around 4000 maybe, happily rapidly declining thanks to Ebay!
Pete: I have no idea, a few thousand I suppose. A lot of them are for sale now though.
What are your 3 most played tracks at the moment?
Boggy: 1) Lemonade (Justin Robertson Remix) - Erol Alkan & Boys Noize; 2) Say My Name - Holy Ghost; 3) Bad Love (Azari and III remix) – Booka Shade
Pete: 1) Big Crunch Theory –What To Say (DJ Koze Remix); 2) The Three Degrees – The Runner (Wild Geese Edit); 3) Tiago – Motorcycles (Neville Watson Remix)
What do you do when you are not djing / producing?
Boggy: I'm a world class Trampoliner.
Pete: I’ve gone back to school.
What is your biggest fear?
Boggy: Black Eyed Peas / Nickelback / Kei$ha / Conservative Election win / Clumber Street / Piers Morgan / Baked Beans / Volcanic Ash during European DJ bookings!
Pete: Chris Bithell
Stealth is 6 years old this Friday. What did you do on your 6th birthday?
Boggy: I spilled the vanilla essence all over the floor at my Grandma's house. It
was gonna be used for my birthday cake.
Pete: I think I went to Twycross Zoo!
If you could pick 3 Dj's (past or present) to play at your party who would
you pick?

Boggy: Larry Levan (R.I.P), Harvey, Dexter (Avalanches), (and Michael Mayer if one pulled out!)
Pete: I-F (Clasic Italo Disco Set), Jacques Lu Cont (Back to 2004 set), Jarvis Cocker (in the other room).
What is your favourite memory of Stealth?
Boggy: So many, I can remember Djing with Felix Da Housecat years ago and it going insane when we were playing. I went to see Chromeo play live on a Thursday night, around 70 people there I think, but they were amazing. Running our own night ASBO has always been fun at Stealth guests including Hot Chip (playing live) and Fake Blood (when he was simply DJ Touché). Everytime we warm up for Erol Alkan it’s great.
Pete: So many amazing times. Some of the guests in the early days, often on the same bill; The Glimmers, The Hacker, Felix Da Housecat, Ivan Smagghe were all amazing to have on in Nottingham, also the first time Erol played was really special. Warming up for loads of my favorite DJs/producers has been an unbelievable job to have – thank you Stealth!
What tracks stand out as your favourites from your sets at Stealth (over the last 6 years)?
Boggy: 1) 'Take a Chance' (Kiko Remix) - Mr Flagio; 2) 'Everywhere' - Fleetwood Mac; 3) 'Nude Night' - The Chemical Brothers; 4) 'Freakin Out' - Graham Coxon (during our Club NME residency)
Pete: 1) 'Take a Chance' (Kiko Remix) – Mr Flagio; 2) 'Prototype' – Rex The Dog; 3) 'Erotic Discourse' - Paul Woolford presents Bobby Peru, 4 ) 'Perspex Sex' (Ewan Pearson Remix) – Freeform Five; 5) 'Kickschool 79' – Thomas Schumacher.
What has been your favourite night at Stealth (over the last 6 years)?
Boggy: When we djed with Jacques Lu Cont about 2006ish, amazing scenes absolutely mental, people on shoulders, jumping all over the shop. A DJ at the absolute height of his game.
Pete: 2many DJs on a Friday. I spent most of the gig on Matt Waites shoulders it was more like being at a gig than in a nightclub!
What has been your funniest moment in Stealth?
Boggy: The time Ricky Haley hired a ball pool for the middle of the downstairs room at Liars club. Absolute mayhem, bouncers, bar staff getting hit in the face with balls, huge night!

TIM GREEN Interview - Stealth 6th Birthday

As you should all be aware by now this Friday is Stealth's Sixth Birthday - and to celebrate we're putting on a special event showcasing some of our favourite acts from the last 6 years at the club (including Fake Blood, Ivan Smagghe, Nero, Bowski & Tim Green).

Tim Green is one of those producers who doesn't turn in a lot of filler tracks. For the most part when "TG" or Tim Green puts something out there, it has a strong sense of character and rocks a dancefloor to its core. Many of the world’s leading labels have recognized this, with Tim signing tracks and remixes on the likes of Get Physical, Cocoon, Dirtybird, Renaissance, Four:Twenty, Trapez, Cr2, Sci-tec, Southern Fried and many more. Singles such as ‘Kitch-In’ ‘Mr.Dry’ ‘Revox’ & ‘Exercise’ have become anthems in the house and techno scene over the past 2 years.

Tim's talents have not gone unnoticed by the world biggest djs, and the level of support he's received on his productions has been quite staggering. Ritchie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Pete Tong, Carl Cox, Sasha & John Digweed, Josh Wink, Deadmu5, Tiefschwarz, Steve Lawler, MANDY, Dubfire, Ricardo Villalobos, Laurent Garnier, Slam, Claude Von Stroke, Nic Fanciulli, Steve Angello, Lee Burridge, Damian Lazarus, Anja Schnieder, and many more have consistently championed Tim’s music. Check out these videos of Richie Hawtin & Erol Alkan dropping Tim's tracks:

We caught up with Tim to ask him a few questions before his set at Stealth this Friday.

How long ago did you start djing & producing?

About 4 or 5 years ago. Producing came first, closely followed by DJing.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Cant remember exactly, but was probably something like High Contrast-
Make It Tonight or a record from Thomas Bangalter's Roule label.
And what was the last record (or track) you bought?
Actual record bought fairly recently was Skudge - Convolution.
Who were your main inspirations that got you into djing & production?
Initially it was Daft Punk and a lot of drum and bass. Calibre,
Nu:Tone, High Contrast etc... Adam F as well with his Colours album.
Thats more the initial ones for production. But then it was more my
mates in Kent who were all DJs. They all taught me to mix and
inspired me.
How many records are in your collection?
More than 10.
What are your 3 most played tracks at the moment?
1) Pamparampapam - Mindhaker
2) La France - Lucero En Vivo
3) Convolution - Skudge
What do you do when you are not DJing / producing?
Read, drink, watch movies, stay clear of airports.
Stealth is 6 years old this Friday. What did you do on your 6th birthday?
Probably got high on e-numbers, additives and sugar! Ran around a lot..... then got more high!
If you could pick 3 DJs (past or present) to play at your party who would you pick?
Daft Punk, Loco Dice and DJ Shadow.
What is your favourite memory of Stealth?
Haha, a very blurry one with Dave Congreve. In fact, they are always brilliantly blurry - for which I put all blame onto him! But we always end up playing back to back which is really great fun. I could mix back to back with Dave for hours and hours.
Tim Green will be playing in the > ZLEEP < room alongside Ivan Smagghe, Zleep Djs & Dave Congreve. Here's one of Tim's mixes to get you ready for Friday's party:
