RAMADANMAN presents PEARSON SOUND at Steath (28.01.11)

RAMADANMAN presents PEARSON SOUND

This Friday at Stealth we are pleased to welcome the man formally known as Ramadanman - the one and only PEARSON SOUND.
David Kennedy’s work as Ramadanman and Pearson Sound has been a positive scourge on the airwaves this past year. His current deviation from any kind of conventional ‘dubstep’ template hasn’t come as a shock for anyone who’s been following his career from the start - he’s always had a particular slant and a percussively textured style all of his own that’s often layered with thick and potent bass frequencies and synth washes.

2010 was a breakthrough year for Kennedy - putting out nearly ten 12-inches (on labels like Swamp81, Aus Music & Hemlock), and helping bass music forward, both through his own productions and through Hessle Audio, the label he runs with Ben UFO and Pangaea. His forthoming Fabriclive 56 mix showcases the production and DJ style that have earned him so much acclaim as of late; in addition to tracks from many of his friends and contemporaries (Appleblim, Joy Orbison, Elgato, J Kenzo, Pangaea, Addison Groove), the 30-track mix works in house and techno cuts, along with a gaggle of new productions, including three from his own Pearson Sound alias.
"It's a bit of a retrospective of some of my favourite music from 2010, and is representative of a set I would play in a club," Kennedy says. "Even though I don't play much stuff at 140BPM these days, I always like to end up at that tempo as that is the music that got me to where I am, and tracks like Sub Zero by D1 are very powerful for me because they remind me of spending time at FWD in 2006, which was so formative."

As well as his own productions he has also made remixes for the likes of Jamie Woon, MIA & Julio Bashmore:

And not forgetting his classic remix for Florence & The Machine:

JOY ORBISON
“Cool” uncles have always gotten kids into all kinds of wonderful mischief, but 22-year-old Peter O’Grady from London , better known as Joy Orbison, was especially blessed—he credits uncle Ray Keith with introducing him to jungle and U.K. garage long before he could ever hit the clubs. At the age of 13 he took up DJing and eventually moved into production, beginning with Fruity Loops-crafted 8-bar grime loops before shifting into headier territory that combined his love of house, disco, and dubstep with the atmospheric fuzz of bands like My Bloody Valentine, Josef K, and The Beach Boys. His debut single “Hyph Mngo” has become the forward-thinking dubstep/2-step tune of 2009, and was followed by “BRKL CLLN” on O’Grady’s own Doldrums label, which he runs in tandem with partner Impey.

HUDSON MOHAWKE
Hudson Mohawke, is an Electronic music producer/DJ from Glasgow, Scotland, affiliated with the LuckyMe collective of musicians and artists. He is signed to Warp Records and released his debut album Butter in October 2009. Hud Mo's 'Fuse':

JAMES BLAKE
James Blake is a 21 year old electronic/dubstep producer from London. He has released four EPs so far; Air & Lack Thereof/Sparing The Horse, The Bells Sketch, CMYK and Klavierwerke EP. Together with Airhead he also released two tracks, Pembroke and Lock in the Lion. He has also remixed tracks by Untold and Mount Kimbie. James Blake's 'Limit To Your Love':

JACKMASTER
