HYETAL (live) at Dot To Dot Festival 2011 (29/05/11)

Bank Holiday Sunday 29th May

Dot To Dot Festival 2011

HYETAL (live)
Growing out of Bristol’s second wave of Dubstep starlets alongside producers such as Joker, Gemmy and Julio Bashmore, Hyetal makes music that blurs boundaries, builds dancefloors and ‘drips with colour’. Infact much has been made of the visual nature of Hyetals music, like a kaleidoscope for the ears drums or a synesthesiac’s wet dream.

“Hyetal has a kinda strange and tender magic that is just truly enchanting”

Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC Radio 1)

Since relocating from his native Southampton he has been fully embraced by his new home of Bristol, releasing on the local labels Punch Drunk and Soul Motive.

His collaborations with Julio Bashmore (as Velour for Night Slugs), Shortstuff, Peverelist & Baobinga and mixes for Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC Radio 1), Fabric Live, FACT & LuckyMe have help to showcase the sound of this next generation of ‘post’ Dubstep artists and firmly sits Hyetal right in the middle of them.

Hyetal's first single from his forthcoming debut long-player 'Phoenix' dropped last year, gaining rave reviews from the likes of Resident Advisor, Pitchfork, Fact Magazine & Knowledge:

On May 2, the talented producer will add a full-length LP to his repertoire. The 10-track Broadcast will drop via Bristol-based imprint 'Black Acre', preceded by the recently released single, 'Diamond Islands'. On the inspiration behind that fresh track, Hyetal says, "I wanted to make something stripped back, so most of it’s just [vocalist Alison Garner], sub-bass, a drum machine, and this weird atmosphere."

Dot To Dot Festival 2011

ED SHEERAN (live)
At only 20 years of age, Ed Sheeran is one of the most promising singer-songwriters in the UK today, with an ever-growing fanbase covering Hip-Hop, Folk, Grime, Acoustic & Indie.

Sheeran began recording aged 14 in 2005, which led to the release of his first EP, The Orange Room EP. Sheeran also released two albums, a self-titled one in 2006 and Want Some? in 2007.

In 2009, he played 312 gigs. When he ran out of money, he left his flat he was renting and started 'sofa surfing' around London. Also in 2009, he released another EP, You Need Me and in February 2010 began to get noticed after he posted a video through SB.TV.

Ed was soon spotted by Example, who asked Ed to support him on his national tour.

Also in February 2010 he released his second indie release, his critically acclaimed 'Loose Change' EP, which features one of his most popular songs 'The A Team'. A video was made for the song, and famously cost only £20 to make.

In April 2010 he bought a ticket to LA, with no contacts other than one poetry night. he played open mic nights all over LA, before being spotted at 'The Foxxhole' by Jamie Foxx, who invited him to stay at his house and record for the rest of his stay.

On 9 January 2011, Sheeran released his final independent EP, No.5 Collaborations Project featuring appearances by grime artists including P Money, Wiley, JME, Devlin and Ghetts. With this EP, Sheeran gained mainstream attention for reaching number 2 in the iTunes chart without any promotion or label, selling over 7,000 copies in its first week.

Last week Ed Sheeran put his latest EP 'One Take' up for FREE download via his website. The EP features new track 'Uni', 'You Need Me' and 'Wayfaring Stranger' (all recorded live in one take).

TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS (live)
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (or TEED) is the solo project of Orlando Higginbottom, the Oxford-bred twentysomething producer responsible for some of the freshest electronic sounds of the last few years. His debut release, the 'All in One Sixty Dancehalls EP', was released in 2009 on Greco-Roman (a label run by Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard), backed with a remix from our very own residents Tomb Crew.

In June 2010, TEED's follow-up EP 'All in Two Sixty Dancehalls EP' dropped, featuring 'Dipper', 'Blood Pressure', 'The One' and breakthrough track 'Garden', which caught the ear of Annie Mac at BBC’s Radio One.

November saw the release of the 'Household Goods EP', featuring the title track alongside 'Waulking Song' and 'How Far'.

As well as his own productions, TEED has also been making a name for himself in the remix world, putting his own touch to tracks from the likes of Professor Green, WAFA, Crystal Fighters & Fenech Soler. In addition to this TEED's tracks have received remixes from Jesse Rose, Justin Martin, The 2 Bears & Lone.
