TIM GREEN Interview - Stealth 6th Birthday

As you should all be aware by now this Friday is Stealth's Sixth Birthday - and to celebrate we're putting on a special event showcasing some of our favourite acts from the last 6 years at the club (including Fake Blood, Ivan Smagghe, Nero, Bowski & Tim Green).

Tim Green is one of those producers who doesn't turn in a lot of filler tracks. For the most part when "TG" or Tim Green puts something out there, it has a strong sense of character and rocks a dancefloor to its core. Many of the world’s leading labels have recognized this, with Tim signing tracks and remixes on the likes of Get Physical, Cocoon, Dirtybird, Renaissance, Four:Twenty, Trapez, Cr2, Sci-tec, Southern Fried and many more. Singles such as ‘Kitch-In’ ‘Mr.Dry’ ‘Revox’ & ‘Exercise’ have become anthems in the house and techno scene over the past 2 years.

Tim's talents have not gone unnoticed by the world biggest djs, and the level of support he's received on his productions has been quite staggering. Ritchie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Pete Tong, Carl Cox, Sasha & John Digweed, Josh Wink, Deadmu5, Tiefschwarz, Steve Lawler, MANDY, Dubfire, Ricardo Villalobos, Laurent Garnier, Slam, Claude Von Stroke, Nic Fanciulli, Steve Angello, Lee Burridge, Damian Lazarus, Anja Schnieder, and many more have consistently championed Tim’s music. Check out these videos of Richie Hawtin & Erol Alkan dropping Tim's tracks:

We caught up with Tim to ask him a few questions before his set at Stealth this Friday.

How long ago did you start djing & producing?

About 4 or 5 years ago. Producing came first, closely followed by DJing.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Cant remember exactly, but was probably something like High Contrast-
Make It Tonight or a record from Thomas Bangalter's Roule label.
And what was the last record (or track) you bought?
Actual record bought fairly recently was Skudge - Convolution.
Who were your main inspirations that got you into djing & production?
Initially it was Daft Punk and a lot of drum and bass. Calibre,
Nu:Tone, High Contrast etc... Adam F as well with his Colours album.
Thats more the initial ones for production. But then it was more my
mates in Kent who were all DJs. They all taught me to mix and
inspired me.
How many records are in your collection?
More than 10.
What are your 3 most played tracks at the moment?
1) Pamparampapam - Mindhaker
2) La France - Lucero En Vivo
3) Convolution - Skudge
What do you do when you are not DJing / producing?
Read, drink, watch movies, stay clear of airports.
Stealth is 6 years old this Friday. What did you do on your 6th birthday?
Probably got high on e-numbers, additives and sugar! Ran around a lot..... then got more high!
If you could pick 3 DJs (past or present) to play at your party who would you pick?
Daft Punk, Loco Dice and DJ Shadow.
What is your favourite memory of Stealth?
Haha, a very blurry one with Dave Congreve. In fact, they are always brilliantly blurry - for which I put all blame onto him! But we always end up playing back to back which is really great fun. I could mix back to back with Dave for hours and hours.
Tim Green will be playing in the > ZLEEP < room alongside Ivan Smagghe, Zleep Djs & Dave Congreve. Here's one of Tim's mixes to get you ready for Friday's party:
