KORELESS Plays dollop 7th Birthday on Fri 3rd June

Friday 3rd June

KORELESS (Lucky Me/Pictures Music)

"Well defined rhythm, melodies and emotions" would be how Lewis Roberts aka Koreless describes his brand of delicate electronica/2-Step. Oddly, it's inspired by a retrospective appreciation of early 90's jungle, when according to Lewis, music had irreplacable energy. The 19 year old's surroundings have doubtless given him a leg up too; now abiding in Glasgow he's rubbing shoulders with the likes of Rustie and Hudson Mohawke, able to frequent the infamous Numbers and Lucky Me parties. The hype around his debut EP was inescapable, especially when Pictures Music gave Up Down Up Down away for free (only) before the release:

Here is Koreless in action as part of a Pictures Music takeover at the Boiler Room:

Koreless' profile was given another massive boost when his remix of The Look was given the Greene light for digital release along side anthem Another Girl:

…leading to long-term-supporter Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings roping Lewis in for remix duties on Ghostpoet's second single Survive It; an echo-y haunting interpretation truly living upto the Koreless mantra of 'less is more':

This Friday's dollop event will be the biggest one yet - we cannot wait - it seems Roberts is pretty excited too! But even if you haven't managed to get hold of a ticket, you've still got every reason to keep an eye on this guy. A new 4-track EP, remixes, another appearance on the Luck Me catalogue and there's talk of a collaboration with Nottingham's own Lone!
