SCRATCH PERVERTS (MIDNIGHT SET) @ COUNTDOWN NYE 2010

The Scratch Perverts are a collective of turntablist DJs from London, formed in 1996 by DJ Tony Vegas.

The Scratch Perverts originally consisted of 4 members (Tony Vegas, Renegade, First Rate and Mr Thing), before expanding to an 8-member crew with the addition of Prime Cuts, Harry Love, Killa Kela and Plus One. The collective split for a short period in 2000, then reformed with just 3 members; Tony Vegas, Prime Cuts and Plus One.

The Scratch Perverts have garnered widespread acclaim. The team won the first DMC Team championships in 1999, claiming it again in the 'Perverted Allies' alias (a fusion of the Perverts and the Allies DJ crews). Additionally Prime Cuts claimed 2 consecutive ITF World Scratching titles, first beating A-Trak in Hawaii in 1999 and then defending the title in Los Angels the following year. Plus One won the Vestax battle in 2000, not begetting his returning the DMC World crown to the UK after a hiatus of 10 years. Their technical contributions include the 'feedback' technique and the Euro scratch amongst others.

They have now retired indefinitely from competition and gone on to regular live DJing, touring around the world & holding a residency at London hotspot Fabric. They have also gone on to producing their own music, with Plus One being one-half of Stealth favourites JACK BEATS.

The London-based trio made a name for themselves in the '90s as hip-hop battle DJs, but in the meantime their tastes have expanded. Nowadays, their extra-busy sets include everything from electro house to forward-thinking dubstep, as their new mix for Ministry of Sound clearly demonstrates. After kicking off with a bit of grime from Wiley, the compilation weaves through cuts by Jesse Rose, Mala, The Chemical Brothers, Four Tet & Burial and many more. Naturally, the group manage to fit 28 tracks into this single disc mix. Check out the mix teaser video to give you an idea of what to expect:

The Perverts have also been instrumental in Activision's DJ HERO, contributing tracks and routines for the chart-topping game:

THE SCRATCH PERVERTS PLAY AT 11.30PM - 12.30AM IN THE RESCUE ROOMS.

DJ ZINC (Midnight Set) @ COUNTDOWN

The biggest New Years Eve party in the UK returns to Rock City, Stealth & Rescue Rooms to bring in 2011. Having sold out for the last 2 years, the line up for this year’s Countdown is second to none. With several of the biggest nights in Nottingham on board to provide 7 arenas of music, for 4,000 people, running from 8.30 till 6am and with Funktion One sound throughout this promises to be an epic New Years Eve celebration!

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

The mighty DJ ZINC will be filling midnight slot upstairs in Stealth, playing his trademark 'Crack House' sound.

Starting out in the world of Jungle and Drum & Bass, DJ Zinc (as part or True Playaz & Ganja Kru) produced some of the all-time classics of the genres - including 'Fugees Or Not' or 'Super Sharp Shooter', before slowing down his tempo to the 130s - hitting the chart in 2000 with the garage anthem '138 Trek'.

Zinc continued producing D&B until 2007, when he became disenchanted by the lack of originality within the scene and decided to take some time out to consider the musical direction he should follow in his career. In 2008 he returned, playing a hybrid of house sounds - from deep house to UK Funky house to fidget house, and was soon producing something that did not fit into any of these sub-genres. He later named his new sound Crack House.

He dropped his first 'Crack House' mixes in late 2008 & early 2009.

After releasing his first 'Crack House EP', the buzz started to build on a new track 'Blunt Edge' which featured on his January 09 mix. After an initial low-key release the song was re-released with a vocal from Ms Dynamite under the new title 'Wile Out', gaining daytime radio play and once again hitting the charts.

Since 'Wile Out' Zinc has also had success producing for Katy B - including her track 'Louder':

And with the release of 'Crack House EP 2' Zinc's track 'Nexx' became one of the biggest dancefloor tracks of 2010.

CHASE & STATUS (DJ Set) @ Countdown NYE

The biggest New Years Eve party in the UK returns to Rock City, Stealth & Rescue Rooms to bring in 2011. Having sold out for the last 2 years, the line up for this year’s Countdown is second to none. With several of the biggest nights in Nottingham on board to provide 7 arenas of music, for 4,000 people, running from 8.30 till 6am and with Funktion One sound throughout this promises to be an epic New Years Eve celebration!

Chase & Status headline the Rock City main hall bringing in the New Year with an exclusive midnight set. 2010 has been massive for these guys and with a sell out UK tour and several top 10 singles under their belt they’re due to drop their 2nd album in January 2011.

Check out the video to their new single 'Blind Faith' (released on January 24th):

How many artists / producers can count Jay Z, Snoop Dogg and Pharell as fans as well as drum and bass’ finest Andy C, Hype and Pendulum; enjoy heavy rotation in the hands of dub-step royalty such as N-Type and Skream; and have each release enthusiastically supported by Annie Mac and Zane Lowe? This is what Saul Milton and Will Kennard, producing under the name Chase & Status, have achieved in 5 years, and the highlight of their young career so far has been their debut LP ‘More Than Alot’ which has helped turned them into a unique urban phenomenon, and the biggest crossover act to come out of the underground since Pendulum.

They met at Manchester University through their mutual love of drum and bass in the mid nineties and have DJ’d ever since, waiting until 2004 for their first production, a remix for Future Cut (better known these days for their production work with Lily Allen). It was followed by a series of drum and bass anthems for the biggest underground labels including ‘Duppy Man’ for Breakbeat Kaos (home of Pendulum’s platinum selling debut album) in 2005 and ‘The Druids’ EP for DJ Zinc’s trendsetting Bingo label a year later. Their production work for Jenna G’s ‘In Love’ the same year earned them their first award, ‘Best Single’, as voted by over 40,000 listeners for the BBC 1Xtra Drum & Bass Awards.

Despite a high volume of releases on Ram Records and constant DJ work, Chase & Status managed to mastermind and release their debut album last year. Packed with the kind of drum and bass anthems that helped build their reputation, it also features tracks which show the diversity of their work: such as ‘Pieces’ featuring Plan B and the Radio 1 A-List single ‘Against All Odds’ featuring Kano.

The result of the album is a thrilling journey through the UK urban scene and deserves its great title: ‘More Than Alot’. One track from the album ‘Eastern Jam’ was recently spotted by Snoop Dogg and newly released in April 2009 as ‘Snoop Dogg Millionaire’.

Chase & Status have recently been hailed as ‘The most exciting producers in the UK today’ by Pharell Williams of N*E*R*D fame, and the excitement around the pair doesn’t stop there. They have been asked to remix tracks by some of the world’s hottest artists including recent remixes of Jay Z’s ‘Death Of Auto-Tune’, The Prodigy’s ‘Invaders Must Die’ and White Lies ‘Death’.

In 2010, Chase & Status have signed a major record deal with Vertigo on Mercury Records, started working on new material for their second album, the first fruits of which entitled ‘End Credits’ feat. Plan B appeared on the film ‘Harry Brown’ featuring Sir Michael Caine.

The second track from the upcoming album was 'Hypest Hype' featuring Stealth favourite Tempa T. The video was filmed during their live shows earlier in the year, and numerous festivals over the summer months. For a free download of the track head over to www.chaseandstatus.co.uk .

RATTUS RATTUS & KLOSE ONE (Urban Nerds)

This Saturday at Stealth Vs Rescued we welcome back Urban Nerds residents RATTUS RATTUS & KLOSE ONE, who will be playing their trademark quick-fire mix of bass heavy bangers, bootlegs and remixes that fuse the dubstep, grime and dancehall led underground sounds with house and electro!

Starting on north London pirate station Y2K in 2002 Klose One has gone on to hold down weekly shows on Itch Fm and internet station Pyrotechnic.com. Now regularly playing out in the London club scene and around the country Klose One refuses to be pigeonholed into one genre or scene, you can catch him playing fast paced sets mixing up, Dubstep, 2Step, Bassline, Hip Hop, Bashment, Breakbeat, Electro and Classic Dance tracks and always rocking the crowd in front of him.

Pure party mash-up! Everything and anything from dubstep & grime to bassline, electro and dark, dirty beats! As well as being an Urban Nerds selector from day one, Rattus Rattus has ventured out into UK clubland to regularly spin at a number of top underground nights including Vagabondz and Bigger than Barry. Un-phased by any genre, his unique mixing style and one off brand of mash-up mayhem when it comes to tunes makes Rattus a top favourite among Urban Nerdy punters looking to get their rave on! Now Rattus Rattus takes it to dizzy new heights alongside fellow Nerds DJ, Klose One on a mammoth 4 deck set that pushes dance music to it’s limits like never before!

Fast becoming known for their uncompromising eclecticism behind the decks, here's a taste of what to expect from the Rattus Rattus & Klose one on Saturday 18th December as they return to Stealth alongside resident D'lex (dollop) & new-comers WAVES:

Braiden (Rinse FM/Doldrums)

Listen to Braiden throw down a three-deck mix on leading London pirate Rinse FM, or play alongside the great & the good of dubstep at clubs like Plastic People, Scala, The End and The Egg, and it’s clear that he sees music through his own unique lens. An exhibitionist described by FACT Magazine as “absurdly talented”, Braiden lives up to the hype with a mixing style that thrives on the element of surprise – he has been known to crawl Berlin’s clubs in search of undiscovered glitch- or disco-infused music from alternate universes. An avid photographer who has recently shot artist portraits for the Ministry of Sound, look to Braiden for a technicolour vision of the future of London music.
- Red Bull Music Academy 2010

Braiden, repping RinseFM, is celebrated for blowing up dubstep's limitations with his inventive selection and super-tight, technical mixing. Spearheading the current wave of London's what-do-you-call-it experimentation, his sets comfortably splice house, techno, garage and dubstep.
- Night Slugs 2010

Check out his recent release on Joy Orbison's Doldrum's imprint for a taste of what's in store:

Also check out his exclusive mix for Sónar (including tracks by Claude VonStroke, Girl Unit, Lil Silva, Jam City, Justin Martin, Melé & Geeneus):

FACTORY FLOOR (live)
Factory Floor are the latest good band to come out of East London. They play using vintage analogue equipment and tape loops to create abrasive electronic music, layered in feedback, with insistent Krautrock bass lines and obligatory Ian Curtis post-punk vocals. They’re all the best bits of Sonic Youth and Throbbing Gristle, with Giorgio Moroder disco electronics and Kraftwerk beats, an inspired combination.

Stephen Morris of Joy Division/New Order called Factory Floor "Raw, Chaotic, Fantastic and Different" and we couldn’t agree more.

◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇

JIMMY EDGAR (Warp / K7! / Live)
Born in Detroit, Jimmy Edgar began experimenting with electronic music at age 10, and by the age of 15 was DJing alongside the likes of Detroit legends Juan Atkins and Derrick May.

In 2001 at the tender of 18, his hyper-sexed microchip stylings caught the ear of Warp, where he cranked out his brand of amped-up laptop funk for the next eight years, culminating in the full-length classic 'Color Strip'. Now 26, Edgar is shaking things up at German beat boutique !K7.
His recent album "XXX" was released in June 2010 to critical acclaim.

Jimmy is also pretty nifty with a camera. His photography has been shown in Vogue, Dazed, H, Notion, Clash and URB, and his work has been shown in London, NYC & Los Angeles. Jimmy has also shot for such bands as Hercules Love Affair, Her Bad Habit, Kelley Polar, Plus Device, Steve Mason/King Biscuit Time/Black Affair, Pretty Positive, Dead on TV, Kava Kon, Theophilus London, Machinedrum and more. BURNS is the young British newcomer championed by Annie Mac, Erol Alkan, The Ed Banger Crew, A-Trak, The NME, Mixmag, The Guardian, The Times, Time Out, DJ mag, Calvin Harris, Zane Lowe, blogs, and forums alike.
2009 saw the release of BURNS' debut - 'The Turbo EP', which featured the track 'Heartbeats' alongside the original of 'Turbo' and a remix from Jokers Of The Scene. 'The Teknique EP' soon followed, with the tracks 'Teknique', 'Into My Eyes' & 'First Move' (complete with remixes from Fred Falke & His Majesty Andre) making their impact on dancefloor's worldwide.
On the strength of the two EPs BURNS was handpicked by both Deadmau5 & Calvin Harris to support them both on their worldwide tours.

2010 began with a range of ‘hot tip’ media plaudits, before Burns released his first mix compilation 'This Is Burns 001: European Sex Music', featuring tracks from the likes of Armand Van Helden, Boys Noize, Surkin, BeatauCue, Tony Senghore, Jan Driver, Brodinski & L-Vis 1990.

The lead track from his third release (‘So Many Nights EP') first appeared on DJ Mehdi's Christmas 2009 Mixtape for the Ed Banger website, Cool Cats. The buzz quickly spread to the blogs and forums with the Ed Banger crew unanimously declaring it to be a 'banger” (their highest accolade) & A-Trak charting it on his own blog.

BURNS' latest track 'Y.S.L.M (You Stopped Loving Me) is co-produced by French House legend Fred Falke and comes out on 12th December (following months of support from the likes of Annie Mac), and BURNS has just been nominated as 'Best Breakthrough DJ' in the DJ Mag Best of British Awards.
