GHOSTPOET (live)A U.K.-based MC whose beats and flow brimmed with drowsy anxiety, Ghostpoet (Obaro Ejimiwe) became involved with music while attending university. He was a member of a grime collective but eventually gravitated toward a less energetic production sound and MC’ing style, introduced on 2010’s 'The Sound of Strangers', a self-released four-track EP that caught the ear of BBC DJ Gilles Peterson.
Peterson licensed the EP for his Brownswood label and featured a demo version of the track “Liines” on the sixth Brownswood Bubblers compilation, issued that November. Back in February Brownswood released the first Ghostpoet full-length, 'Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam', featuring the single 'Cash & Carry Me Home':
The track has seen support on Radio 1 from the likes of Rob Da Bank, Gilles Peterson, Nick Grimshaw & Zane Lowe, and was followed up by the album's second single 'Survive It':
Back in March Ghostpoet and UK rapper Kano met for the first time at the Red Bull Studios in London, and Kano stepped into the booth and laid down a verse for the remix of Ghostpoet's single "Cash And Carry Me Home". Fingers crossed the remix sees the light of day!
